Staycation at Sheraton Grand Whitefield Post Covid-19

After a long 6 month hiatus of not venturing out of home for travel or other promotional activity which used to keep me occupied from many years, I had an opportunity to stay at Sheraton Grand Whitefield which is one of the premier hotel and convention center in Bangalore.

Due to pandemic, India went into lockdown since March 23 and with a rising number of cases in the months of May/June, Karnataka government decided to extend lockdown and thus we could not venture out until the end of August.

But things started slowly picking up in the month of August where travel ban was lifted, quarantine days were shortened and many rules were smoothened down and as slowly businesses began to open they faced one more problem that is the trust from consumers.

Due to Pandemic, Tourism took a major hit and Airlines and accommodation places were majorly hit as they used to witness millions of people day in day out but due to lockdown and fear of Covid-19 people stayed at their home and tried to stay healthy.

However, at one point of time, everybody will travel and thus require a place of stay and what better way to stay at a new location where they follow hygienic, cleanliness according to hospital standards and also do keep in mind government rules and regulations? It is at Sheraton Grand Whitefield.

Sheraton Grand Whitefield Hotel and Convention Center is one of the premier hotels that is located in Bangalore South and is a place that is near to many offices. I recently had a staycation experience at this hotel. Although I was sceptical when I had received information about the staycation, I had the complete trust of the hotel as they follow cleanliness and hygiene and safe sanitary practices which is now utmost importance for people to stay.

In Sheraton Grand Whitefield Hotel and Convention, you will be checked for temperature right when you are about to enter the hotel. The baggage which you bring will be cleaned and sanitized so that before you check-in your baggage is disinfected and is safe. You will go to the reception were on the first notice you get to witness that the places of seating and other places where people usually be in groups have been marked and are apart 2ft in distance. During check-in also, you will be standing at a distance from the receptionist who provides you with the sanitized pen for signature right before in front of you.

As cleanliness and sanitization are important, many sanitizers are placed and also you will be asked to sanitize before you move to the room which you intend to stay. Sheraton has a practice of keeping the room empty for 24 hours after a customer checks out, meanwhile the room is completely sanitized with hospital-grade products. All the cleaning materials are colour coded so that things won’t mess up at the time of cleaning. The beddings are thoroughly cleaned and dried, the pillows and other surfaces are first cleaned with anti-bacterial/anti-viral solution and then a mist of hot water spray that kills major of viruses that are present on the surface.

Common items in the hotel room such as TV Remote, AC Remote, shelves, doors and handles are wiped with disinfectants thoroughly so that there should not be any error and hazard for a new customer.

Steps have been taken for social distancing and sanitization methods in the lobby and the Restaurants are well maintained with a social distance where the tables and chairs are arranged at distance, the utensils and cutlery are washed with food-grade sanitizers. All the food that is ordered will be washed with veggie cleaners and then put in hot water for further sanitization, the cutlery will be washed and kept in sanitizers and they do not use the same cutlery plates which were washed, they keep them clean for 24 hours before serving to the consumers.

The convention centre here is huge and even with social distancing measure can occupy many people. All the seats, tables are sanitized and they are arranged with social distancing norms. The huge convention center is suitable for meetings and any other functions and one can book it here without any fear.

Several safety measures also go in before you check-in to the hotel where the hotel transportation has safety measures which include a barrier between driver and customers, common touchpoints such as doorknobs, window knobs, armrest, seat belts are sanitized after every trip, common touchpoints of the hotel such as doors, railings and many such places are sanitized at regular intervals.

With these safety measures in place, one can stay without fear of contracting the virus. In my recent staycation here where I had first hand witnessed the sanitization and other safety measures followed at Sheraton Grand Whitefield Hotel and Convention center.
